UL-142 – Steel Aboveground Tanks for Flammable and Combustible Liquids
Tank Services offers single and double walled UL-142 cylindrical, horizontal, non-pressure steel tanks used in aboveground storage of flammable and combustible liquids such as diesel, fuel oil, and gasoline in sizes ranging from 250 – 20,000 gallons. Or, let us make modifications to existing fuel transfer tanks to fit your exact specifications.
These portable fuel storage tanks are intended for installation and use in accordance with the Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code, NFPA 30; the Standard for Installation of Oil-Burning Equipment, NFPA 31; the Motor Fuel Dispensing Facilities and Repair Garages, NFPA 30A; the Standard for the Installation and Use of Stationary Combustion Engines and Gas Turbines, NFPA 37; the Uniform Fire Code, NFPA 1; and the International Fire Code published by the International Code Council.
UL-142 follows strict guidelines mandated by Underwriters Laboratories, covering steel primary, secondary and diked type atmospheric storage tanks intended for noncorrosive, stable flammable and combustible liquids in aboveground applications. A double‐walled tank built to this standard meets the requirement for 110% containment. The requirement for 110% containment is one that is mandated by most fire marshals or the applicable regulating agency. Containment requirements are determined by the tank capacity, location, landing zoning and use.
